Scanning Generations
The shoe box full of photographs, collection of albums, carousel of slides, storage bin full of important documents or even the cute artwork from the kids you can’t bring yourself to throw away. We all have a collection of something, possibly more than one. Maybe it’s our own, or perhaps you inherited a collection from a parent or older generation.
That’s where Scanning Generations comes in. Our mission is to digitize your memories for future generations to enjoy. We will scan your photographs and other cherished items, dust (if needed), organize and return them on a convenient digital storage device. Not only will this process allow for these items to be easily shared and accessed by those that would enjoy seeing these memories live on, it will also serve as a safe backup in case anything unforeseen happens and the originals are somehow lost or damaged.
About the Owner
The decision to start Scanning Generations stemmed from the desire to be able to share my father’s photograph collection after he passed away. He had thousands of photographs ranging from pictures that were given to him of our individual families to pictures dating back to the late 1800’s of his parents and grandparents and a lot of his exciting adventures in between. The pictures themselves are amazing and tell quite a story about his life, but we didn’t have a way to share them with others. This wasn’t a project that we necessarily wanted to outsource, so I scanned all of the pictures and saved them in such a way my siblings could access them and others could look if they wanted to. This type of work is personal for me. I understand the emotion behind family photographs from current and previous generations and the ability to create a way for others to enjoy these memories means a great deal.
Family has always been my highest priority. I am currently a Stay-at-Home father to our amazing son and have spent years exploring our family genealogy and history. Throughout those years I have scanned thousands of items ranging from photographs to letters and more recently even our son's art projects and class assignments. Now that he is in school I wanted to create this business as a way to help others who have been in similar situations save their family photos/letters/kid’s school art projects, etc. and have the ability to share them with family and friends as I have.
